Church Staff Code of Ethics

  • EMBC staff will not verbally, physically, emotionally, or sexually abuse a child or any other person.
  • EMBC staff will not be alone with children except with prior approval of the senior pastor or in an emergency.
  • An EMBC staff member will not, as a representative of Eagle Mountain Baptist Church, be alone with a member of the opposite gender that is not his or her spouse except with prior approval of the senior pastor or in an emergency.
  • EMBC staff will not use profanity in the presence of children, parents, church members or guests, or church staff.
  • EMBC staff will not engage in inappropriate displays of intimate affection in the presence of children, parents, church members or guests, or church staff.  (The senior pastor will define inappropriate.)
  • EMBC staff will not, as representatives of Eagle Mountain Baptist Church, provide services such as babysitting or private lessons to children under the age of 18.
  • EMBC staff will report any suspected abuse or neglect of a child to the senior pastor and to the Child Protective Services of the Texas Department of Protective and Regulatory Services and law enforcement agencies, as required by Texas State Law.
  • EMBC staff will, at all times, portray a positive role model for children and youth by demonstrating respect, loyalty, patience, courtesy, tact, and maturity.
  • EMBC staff will treat all persons, regardless of age, race, religion, ethnicity, gender, or disability with respect, compassion and kindness.
  • EMBC staff will use only positive techniques of guidance and discipline, such as anticipation and prevention of potential problems, positive reinforcement and encouragement, and redirection.
  • EMBC staff will never leave a child unsupervised.
  • EMBC staff will appear clean, neat, and appropriately dressed.  (The senior pastor will define appropriate.)
  • EMBC staff will not attend church activities with physical or psychological conditions that might adversely affect the health or safety of others.
  • EMBC staff will not use tobacco products during church activities or on church property.
  • EMBC staff will not use, possess, or be under the influence of alcohol during church activities or on church property.
  • EMBC staff will not use, possess, or be under the influence of illegal drugs at any time.
  • EMBC staff (other than the senior pastor and associate pastors) will not, as representatives of Eagle Mountain Baptist Church, offer advice or counseling to children, parents, church members or guests during church activities or on church property.  Needs for counseling or spiritual advice should be referred to the senior pastor.  The senior pastor and associate pastors will offer counseling within the approved counseling guidelines of EMBC.
  • EMBC staff will conduct their ministry activities within the written job descriptions provided by Eagle Mountain Baptist Church.
